The Puspo Budoyo community was founded on August 6, 2003, by H. Luluk Sumiarso, with the intended objective to establish a cultural studio as evidence or manifestation of Sumiarso’s love for local culture and concern for the loss of people’s love for their own culture amidst the swift currents of modernization.

H. Luluk Sumiarso, a graduate from ITB Electrical Engineering in 1975 was born in Ponorogo in the year of 1951, his effort in preserving the nation’s cultural heritage as something to be proud of. Bought himself a property at Ciputat Sawah Village, South Tangerang, Banten and then change it into a chic centrum for cultural heritage. The Puspo Budoyo house of culture has been a venue for numerous cultural event and eventually becomes a popular place for those arts and culture enthusiast.

Currently, Puspo Budoyo has maintained an international relationship with countries in Asia, Europe and the Indonesian government to develop Indonesian arts and culture through student exchanges art performances. It has successfully participated in many festivals in foreign countries in the following year in 2007 until 2013, such as the Folklore Festival in Schagen in the Netherlands, the Folklore Festival in Valencia in Spain, the Indonesian Night Performance held by the Indonesian Embassy in Greece and many more.

It’s truly a remarkable effort coming from a simple thought and consistently maintained commitment, Indonesia needs more individual like H. Luluk Sumiarso. Don’t you think so?
