Jatimulyo Tourism Village won third place in the 2019 Nusantara Tourism Village Competition event organized by the Ministry of Village, Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration on Tuesday, December 10, 2019, at Tebing Breksi, Sambirejo Village, Sleman, Yogyakarta. Jatimulyo Village, Girimulyo District of Kulon Progo Regency won 3rd place in the Developing Tourism Village category.
Within the competition, Jatimulyo Tourism Village competed with other tourist village candidates from all over Indonesia. Jatimulyo tourism village has been assessed through several aspects of assessment which includes Human Resources (HR), community and industry as well as tourism village products.
“I am certainly grateful and appreciate the achievements of the Jatimulyo tourism village which have won third place in the 2019 archipelago tourism village competition which is certainly the result of hard work from several components, elements and stakeholders, of course,” said the Regent of Kulon Progo Drs.H.Sutedjo when found in his office on Friday, December 13, 2019.
The Regent of Kulon Progo Regency hopes that the tourism villages and tourism village managers in the region are handled directly by the Kulon Progo Tourism Office and managed directly by POKDARWIS, BUMDES, and other community groups to continuously innovate and be encouraged to advance its tourism village.
“Hopefully this achievement could be maintained and can be developed in the near future,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Kulon Progo Tourism Office, Dra. Niken Probo Laras., S. Sos., MH said that there are many potential attractions which are considered as community best tourism. She also thinks that it is feasible to accept and hopefully more individuals can develop tourism in Jatimulyo then ultimately increase the welfare of the community and the development of the local community’s economy.
As stated by the Head of PMD & KB Office Sudarmanto, S.I.P., M.Sc, said that the 2019 Nusantara Tourism Village competition was aimed at encouraging the management of this tourism village to progress and develop in order to increase public awareness. Collaboration between POKDARWIS, BUMDES, and village tourism managers in their area.
“It is expected that with the competition cooperation between several components can be maximized. Finally, the community can enjoy an economic activity on the package tour. Both related to the culinary, tour guides and SME activities to encourage economic growth in the area of Jatimulyo,” he said.
Sudarmanto added that after this competition, they will make efforts so that the village government, BUMDES, and village tourism managers work well in the management of tourism villages so that tourism villages can truly develop.
