High-end nature tourism offers visitors the spectacular beauty of nature and at the same time demonstrating strong commitment of the operator to create very low and perhaps nearly absent of impact from their activities.
The question is, how realistic and feasible to develop a high-end nature tourism with high environmental standard since we cannot avoid our intrusion into the natural system without leaving any traces, even the lightest one.
The answer would lie on the whole-hearted commitment from the designing to the operational stage to employ high environmental standards that will meet what the high-end tourists expectation. The most significant issue of tourism in Indonesia is the generation of waste, particularly the plastic one. Almost all instant foods and beverages use plastic wrap. Plastic waste is hard to decompose, and the only way to address it would be to recycle them. Yet, recycling plastic is only half of the solution if the production of plastic wrapped instant foods and beverages continues to grow. Therefore, avoiding the plastic wrapped instant foods and beverages is the basic and most practical commitment to high environmental standards
